Car chase down one-way street in NH ends in crash

NASHUA — Police apprehend a New York man after being led on a car chase that ended in a crash at City Hall.

According to Nashua Police, the 53-year-old New York resident is facing several serious charges after the incident on Sunday.

Lawernce Thomas of Bronx, New York, was identified by police after he crashed into a granite flower pot and monument on the sidewalk in front of Nashua's City Hall.

Police report they spotted Thomas' vehicle traveling the wrong way on Kinsley Street around 2:30 p.m. when officers attempted a traffic stop.

Thomas continued to accelerate leading police down several one-way streets in the middle of the city, police say.

According to police, the crash didn't stop Thomas's pursuit, he got out of the vehicle and continued on foot.

Responders were able to apprehend the NY man fairly quickly, and took him into custody after struggling with officers, police say.

Thomas is reportedly facing disobeying an officer, resisting arrest/detention (2 counts), possession of a controlled drug (3 felony counts), conduct after an accident, operating without a license, unsworn falsification, a capias warrant out of Sullivan county, and an out of town warrant from the Rochester New Hampshire Police Department.

Police say Thomas is being held on $100,000 cash bail and was transported to Hillsborough County House of Corrections where he will be video arraigned the 9th circuit Nashua court on Monday.
