SOMERSWORTH — The Somersworth Police Department are searching for the suspected driver who hit and killed a pedestrian.

Officers responded to the intersection of High Street and Bartlett Avenue for a crash Saturday around 10:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a hit-and-run.

The pedestrian ultimately died as a result of the crash, police said. Her identity is not being released, and officials have scheduled an autopsy for the woman on Monday.

Police closed the roads for a period of time to collect evidence.

The Somersworth Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the car and driver of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle is believed to be a light-colored sedan that will have front-end damage as a result of the crash, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Matthew Duval of the Somersworth Police Department or the Criminal Investigations Division at (603) 692-3131, the anonymous Crime Line at (603) 692-9111 or you can email information to jsunderland@somersworth.com.
